Our Squeezebox Power Supply upgrade has been one of our top sellers for
several years. During that time we know several of you have purchased this supply and converted it for use with your Sonic Impact
amp.
No doubt the SI amp is one of the best bargains in audio today. In
its stock form the sound is pretty amazing and I've heard heavily mod'd units that compete with amps costing thousands of dollars.
Of course as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for." At a price of $75, some corners had to be cut and the cost savings
come at the expense of the power supply, volume control and audio connectors. In our opinion power supplies contribute so much to the
sonic character of audio equipment that it's really a no brainer an improvement here will have an impact.
Yeah, I know what you're saying.... "your power supply costs three times
as much as the amp!" This is true but, while we doubt too many of you are using the SI amp for your main system, many of you do a
lot of listening with bedroom systems, on your computer or in your office with the Sonic Impact. Give our power supply a try, we're
sure you won't be disappointed. In fact after hearing the improvement many of you just might start contemplating the need for new
speakers in these systems.
Our upgrade design incorporates a tightly regulated linear power supply featuring low noise Schottky rectifier diodes, low noise, low
drop-out voltage regulator chips, Ultra low impedance Nichicon capacitors and a high-current(4amp)-low-noise-split-bobbin transformer
(get it? it's designed for very low noise). Our power supply measures less than 50 microvolts of ripple under full load resulting in very
quiet operation with plenty of reserve current for good dynamics. Additional benefits are obtained with the use of a ceramic fuse,
Vishay/Dale 1% metal film resistors, Wima polypropylene bypass cap, heavier gauge dc power cable and a detachable ac power
cord.

Assembly is straight forward. This is one of our easier kits to
build. All components are soldered to the circuit board. Once the circuit board is assembled the rear panel with umbilical
connecter and IEC connector are soldered to the board. Then everything just slides right into the box. Following our detailed
step-by-step instruction manual results in an assembly time of less than 2 hours. If you would like us to build the kit for you,
just add the SONICA option (Assembly and test fee) to your order.
AC Power Cord Options
 You can order the Sonic Impact power supply upgrade with one of our stock
shielded power cords, international power cords or try one our Welborne Labs Power Cable kits. Click on the picture for more
details about the Welborne Labs cords. A four foot cable with outer jacket is provided with the upgrade. Cable pricing is below and
is only applicable when purchased together with a power supply upgrade.
