The PSX is a very high quality low voltage regulated power supply. This is the power supply module used in our Squeezebox and Sonic Impact upgrades but
without the case. It is recommended for use with solid state preamplifiers, active crossovers, filters, CD player mods and tube filament supplies.
The PSX’s voltage can be fixed for a single positive voltage between 5 and 24 volts by the selection of a few resistors, and its output is capable of
supplying up to 4.0 ampere of current which makes it useful for tube filament supplies.
The PSX uses the Linear Technologies LT1084 or LT1085 regulator which is a low dropout, high current, high efficiency device highly
recommended for audio applications. The rectifier diodes are low noise Schottky devices and filtering is accomplished with the ultra-low impedance
NICHCON electrolytic capacitors. Why low impedance capacitors? Whereas other electrolytic caps perform well within a narrow bandwidth of the
audio spectrum, these ultra-low impedance caps provide tighter bass response and lower the overall distortion across the entire frequency spectrum.
Additional benefits are obtained with the use of a ceramic fuse, Vishay/Dale 1% metal film resistors and a
Wima polypropylene bypass cap.
Also included with the kit is a split bobbin high current, low noise transformer, ceramic fuse and nylon standoffs.
If you are purchasing this kit as a power supply upgrade for your Squeezebox, Duet or Sonic Impact products - you can also purchase our upgraded
umbilical cord kit detailed below.
The PSX measure just 3.9 inches by 6.25 inches with a height of less than 2.25 inches.
The PSX operates at both 115 Vac and 230 Vac.
