Our new PS6 kit is a high quality
unregulated
DC filament power supply. It is recommended for converting those AC filament voltages to DC volts. Many times AC filaments and their associated
wiring are cause for unwanted hum and noise. And many times, no matter what you do in terms of layout, rewiring, etc., that hum just won't go
away. Converting those filaments to a DC voltage is often the easiest and best solution for eliminating the hum.
Our PS6 can often be used with your existing transformer's AC filament connections. Just wire the PS6 in between the
transformer and the tube filament connections, trim the voltage dropping resistor value and your listening to music in no time. The PS6 is very
compact, measuring just 2.5" x 2.5", so it can fit in some tight spaces.
As always, we use some great parts in the PS6. The rectifier diodes are HEXFRED ultra-fast types. The filter caps
are made by Vishay and the dropping resistors are Vishays or Mills. We've included plenty of filter capacitance for both preamp and amplifier type
filament circuits so one of these kits can easily filter several 9 pin tube filaments or a 300B type filament. Use one per channel for the best
results. Maximum voltage is 6.3Vdc so the PS6 is really recommended for filament voltages in
the 2.5 to 6.3V range with a maximum current of 2 amps.
